Blogging in my opinion was an interesting experience, there were some ways I learned about myself as a reader, I benefited in lots of ways. Having an online identity was definitely different from talking about your book to a group. There are some things you can say but others you can only write online. Sometimes its easier to have an online identity because the feelings you have might not be taken seriously or understood. It might be embarrassing to say out loud and sometimes it feels safer behind the screen.
As a reader, I learned to find the details in a book and study how much of an impact they made on the writing. From what I learned about myself from keeping a blog was that sometimes it can be harder to understand what people are saying and can find it easier to actually listen to what the people are saying. I benefitted in some ways, one way I benefitted was writing blogs worked my brain and made me think about what the characters are really saying, and thinking. Writing online is definitely different from writing in a notebook because online you can't always write what you're feeling and thinking because of the fact that other people might read your blog and not like or understand what you're saying. When you write in a notebook you feel free to say what you want. Typing can be hard and writing with a pen or pencil can be smoother and quicker to write. I think writing online can be limiting because online you might get judged.
I think that people are definitely not real online. They can be but sometimes can create false accusations about who they are. People create online personalities because their pictures might not be real or who they say they are might not be true. Sometimes teens abuse the freedom they get on Facebook. They can write on peoples walls or comment on peoples photos hurtful sayings that they wouldn't be able to say in real life. So yes people type things they would never be able to say to a persons face. Some girls say "Wow, I love that shirt." thats not something bad but if they chat someone saying "Ew, thats an ugly bathing suit." its a different thing. So either way its a good or bad thing because what the person is saying is a complement or an insult. I don't think I could keep up with a blog, I know I would either forget or just not be able to think of a good idea. Blogs are cool if they have good ideas and the writer actually keeps up with the blog and works on it, but if the idea is bad and writer doesn't keep up with it what's the point of the blog.
Overall, blogging was an experience I won't forget and maybe someday I will have the stamina and time to keep up with a blog.

Rome and Juliet Literary Essay
"The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare,is one of the world's most famous love stories and tragedies. Although the first thing readers think of is love when you hear Romeo and Juliet is love, what makes the love so strong is the hatred and the love contrasted! Day by day reading this book gives readers more to think about as a writer so that I know more about how to make themes contrasting. Shakespeare as a writer uses the technique of contrast in order to make the love and hate themes more dramatic and extreme.
Love is a very important theme in Romeo and Juliet and plays a major role in the contrasts of the two main themes. When Romeo and Juliet are together the scene immediately comes to life and the focus goes directly to them. At the party scene when they first met the audiences attention went directly to their love and you knew that some sort of love gesture would take place. When the people that surround them like friends and family are against their love, it makes the consequences of their relationship more dramatic and intense. In the balcony scene, the first real scene showing their love apart from their first kiss has a lot of drama. "My name dear saint, is hateful to myself because it is an enemy to thee" (2.2.61). In this quote Romeo has snuck out into the night to see Juliet, when she asks who he is Romeo replies with that line. Juliet then knows that Romeo is a Montague. This then makes the scene more interesting because they now know that they are supposed to be enemies. It also makes the audience want to know what will happen between them during the rest of the scene. You can see althroughout the love scenes that hate is always shadowing anything they do. Hate and love are juxtaposed. All scenes between them are very strong though and we know that one of the main factors is love.
Hatred in the play is just as extreme and important as love is and is also a main theme in the play. All throughout the play fights brew mostly between the two houses the Montagues and the Capulets. Tybalt, one of the members of the Capulets, is telling his uncle at the party " Uncle this is a Montague our foe, a villain that is hither come in spite to scorn at our solemnity this night"(1.5.68). You can see that Tybalt obviously thinks of the Montagues as enemies and before says (1-5-62) "Fetch me my rapier boy" which means he intends to hurt or possibly kill on of the Montagues when he sees them at the party. Not only is there hatred between the families there is hatred between the characters selves. At the end both are upset with themselves for not being able to protect the other one. Juliet also has hatred for her parents In line (3-5-166) Capulet, Juliet's father is upset by her daughters disapproval to marry Paris, a family friend although Juliet does not love him. As you can see even though the hatred is strong(When Tybalt is angered)love is always their shadowing over (Love at first sight for Romeo and Juliet). Hatred is portrayed in many different and interesting ways.
Love and hate are completely different themes but put together make any circumstances more dramatic. With everyone against each other friendships are so close. One great friendship that involves some form of hatred is Romeo and Mercutio. Mercutio and Romeo will do any thing for eachother even if it means risking their own lives, which is exactly what happens. When Romeo attempts to beat down Tybalt and Mercutio's swords, Mercutio gets in front of Romeo. Tybalt stabs Mercutio instead of Romeo. Mercutiop getting in front of Romeo shows real friendship. Another important friendship in Romeo and Juliet is Juliet and the Nurse. I think this friendship is more like a mother daughter relationship. The nurse even weaned Juliet which is the mothers job, she is with her all the time and they take care of each other. I think this friendship is strong because in the lines (3-5-176) the Nurse stands up for Juliet when Capulet is screaing at Juliet of the marrige plans. The nurse says " God in heaven bless her, you are to blame my lord not to rate her so." The Nurse jumps in front of her and protects her. Even in times of hate, love can balance all.
In conclusion, I really think that that love and hate together make the story much more powerful when the two themes are contrasted in a scene. It always makes the story more extreme. I really liked reading the play "Romeo and Juliet" and hopefully will keep this idea in my mind for never was a story of deeper woe than this of Juliet and her Romeo.

The Future of Us
I am about to finish the "Future of Us" by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler. This book has actually been one of the best that I have read in a long time. I really like how it is told from two different perspectives of the protagonists, a girl named Emma and a boy named Josh.
Throughout the book which takes place in the 90's the two protagonists have their own lives which they live but are friends. When they are hanging out they find a website which can tell their future. When they realize that by changing small things in the present it can effect the future everything changes and they know what to do if their future seems too shabby. In my opinion fate plays a big role in this book. In my opinion fate shouldn't be changed and the characters should not be using the "ripple affect" to change what will go in in the future. Fate or the future is what it is and changing it wouldn't be fair.
Overall, so far I am really liking this book and hope that in the end both of the characters can live their lives the way they should. Not by choosing their life styles.

"The Future of Us"
I am currently reading "The Future of Us" by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler and I have got to say I really love this book. It is written from the perspectives of two different people who are family friends and the time is 1996. It was before ipods, iphones and all of the current electronics we use today. When Emma gets her new computer and makes an email something, a website, appears. It shows photos a website called "Facebook" which puzzles her with all of the pictures of her but when things don't add up she discover it could be her future!
I have always liked the idea of finding out your future. When I think of finding your future I think of women in turbans reading your hand to see the "life lines" or a man saying how famous and successful you will be when you grow older, not finding it out on a website that doesn't exist yet. I really like the way the authors mixes in the current electronics of today with electronics back then. For example Emma one of the two protagonists reads on "Facebook" that her ipad is broken...she wonders what and ipad is and I really think thats a bit funny because today everyone knows what an ipad is. I think the authors did a really good job on the details on all of the details of "Facebook" and I can relate was because the first time I got a Facebook I was so confused and had no idea how to use it.
Overall, I really like this book and hopefully then ending will be as good as the beginning. So far the plot is very interesting and I hope to read more.

Tuck Everlasting
I have almost finished the book "Tuck Everlasting" by Natalie Babbitt and I would say it was a good read. The author definitely put a lot of thought, feeling, and imagination into the book. This book is mainly in the genre of being immortal and having an eternal life. But is it something good that will change the main characters life forever or something that she can never erase?
The main character young Winnie Foster one day discovers a spring on her family's property whose water grants immortality. Members of the near-by neighbors the Tuck Family, having drunk from the spring, tell Winnie their experiences of watching life go by and never growing older. But is this a good thing? Once you have made yourself immortal, you can never go back. You have to watch the people around you move on with their lives leaving you to suffer behind, but is it suffering? You never grow old, you never die. Is being immortal a blessing or a curse?
This book always leaves me wanting to read more and wanting me to wonder more about the Tuck family. Does Winnie know what she's doing? Or could she make the worst decision of her life? Winnie's decision put me on the edge of my seat.

"It's Kind of A Funny Story" post #2
This is my second week on the book "It's Kind of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. So far I really like this book. It has proven to be a real life story, and not one of those crummy cliche books that gets boring quickly. This book doesn't.
The main character craig is still going through tough times with everyone. His friends, his family, and the people around him who are also in the same situation he is in. I think Craig doesn't understand how much stress he puts on the people around him. I can relate to this because sometimes I think I dont realize how much the people around me do for me.
Craig needs to understand that his parents do a lot. They are the ones who have to put up with his unfortunate way of stress. They have been there for him the whole time. His friends don't exactly know why he was depressed in the first place. Craig never exactly showed any of his stress to them so when they found out Craig was in a mental hospital they were crude and dissaproving of him, making him feel bad and laughing. Maybe they weren't even his real friends.
Overall I think Craig needs to understand that he needs to step up for himself and fight back against the stress because thats the only was he is going to get anywhere in life. You can't let anyone boss you around! Not even yourself.

It's Kind of A Funny Story
I am currently reading the book "It's Kind of A Funny Story" by Ned Vizzini. This book is clever, witty and funny and those are definitely the words used to describe this book! The main character Craig is surrounded by the world of school, tough friends, girls and map making. Craig is determined to succeed in life but is under to much stress. The question is though, is Craig working himself to death?
Craig nearly starves himself and stays up all night. One day the stress gets to him and try's to commit suicide. This got him no where. Craig's suicidal episode gets him right into a mental hospital where he meets kids that may be a little weird, but grow to be his friends. He meets a transsexual sex addict, a girl who has scarred her face with scissors and a self elected president. These might not be the friends of his dreams but he is finally able to confront the sources of his stress/ his anxiety. I really think this book is a whole different type of genre and is one-hundred percent original! This book has really grown on me and I can really connect with the feeling of being stressed and letting it out to people who are stressed about the same things.
In conclusion I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is feeling stressed because it is definitely a book you can relate to and is classic and funny!

Zachary Beaver
I am currently reading the book When Zachary Beaver came to town by Kimberley Willis Holt. I had to take a break of reading for a couple days when I went on my trip but now I'm back! Relationships in this book are slowly falling apart as drastic changes happen to the characters.
As I am coming towards the end of the book I realize that Toby and Cal never exactly strengthen their relationship with Zachary. They never became close and one of the questions I have would be: Does Zachary ever have any friends? In the future or the past...
When *SPOILER* Cal's brother Wayne passes away and Toby ditches the funeral to take a walk, their friendship immediately vanishes. I agree with Cal! You can't just ditch your best friends brothers funeral, especially if Toby felt like the only one of cared for Wayne! Toby admired Wayne and always wished he had had a big brother, and a friend. But now it seems that friend is gone.
In conclusion, these friendships have slowly gone downhill, or just didn't move at all. Either way it put in a new perspective of the story for me to look at. Overall a great read!

When Zachary Beaver Came to Town
I am currently reading the book "When Zachary Beaver Came to Town" by Kimberly Willis Holt. This is already a great book. Lots is already going on. For one Zachary Beaver dubbed fattest kid in the world comes to town. The whole town of Antler Texas is craning their necks to see him. But is he just a side show attraction or a real human being like everyone else.
When Toby and Cal go to visit Zachary Beaver, Cal Toby's best friend just wants to know everything about what he eats. Toby slowly keeps shrugging off the questions as if he were Zachary Beaver. He doesn't care about any of the food questions. He wants to get to know Zachary. But does Zachary want to know him? When Toby goes to see him, Zachary just keeps ignoring and ignoring all of his questions. He says lots of people have asked him questions but Toby is the first that actually wants to know more about Zachary. Zachary is locked up like an animal in a glass container keeping him away from the public. Nobody takes him seriously. I think that their relationship will get stronger throughout the book and I am excited to read more.
In conclusion people shouldn't be locked up the way Zachary is and I think Toby is one of the only people who really knows that. Does the size of a person affect their personality? Does this book relate to other people? I'm sure I will find out.

The Evolution of Calpurina Tate
The Evolution by Calpurina Tate by Jaqueline Kelly, has so far been a great read. I think it is very detailed and I really like the setting and I think it is one of the main focuses of the story. It takes place in 1889 in a town in Texas. There aren't a lot of ways to stay cool in the summer so Calpurina or "Callie" for short discovers the wild life and the world around her. With the help of her grandfather she is becoming a naturalist and studying the insects and small town rodents in her town. She is the only girl out of seven children which makes her one of the most unique.
In the beginning of the book, Callie and her grandfather weren't close. They would stay on opposite sides of the house and did not really bond like most grandfathers would. A little bit later when Callie needs to find a book that a girl shouldn't be looking at, about wildlife she asks her grandfather for help. it just so happens that he has the book and then they start their adventure. They go into the woods together and search for interesting species, go camping on the lawn and capture a bat, and talk a lot about their feelings of being a naturalist. I think this is where their relationship gets stronger.
Their are also a lot of thoughts about growing up and becoming a civilized woman that her mother has always wanted her to be. Callie doesn't think this is important. She doesn't like the idea of having to wear layers and layers of petticoats and a corset underneath. Two layers of tights and thick boots and frankly I don't like that idea either! Who would?
In conclusion this book is getting really interesting and will hopefully have a great ending and I will learn more about Calpurina Tate and her grandfather!

"Lost It"
I am currently reading the book "Lost it" by Kristen Tracy. I think that this is a really good and interesting book so far. I think this book has a good perspective of a typical teenage girl in her junior year of high school. She is facing love, drama, and losing her best friend and losing her parents but what I think she is really losing is her dignity.
As Tess is getting pulled farther and farther into this romance with another high school boy I am really starting to wonder what will happen when all she is doing is relying on him. So far a lot of extreme dramas are happening and it feels like she has almost lost herself! I think this because A. her parents left her because they can't stand where they live. B. Her best friend moved away to boarding school and C. she has no faith left in herself. I also think that because of her boyfriend she has discovered a lot of things about herself that the book doesn't say. Like that she is actually a good student when she always pretends that she isn't.
I haven't gotten as far into the book as I had hoped so when I blog next time I will tell you about the ending! *SPOILERS* So far I am really liking this book and hope the beginning is as good as the end.

"Life of PI"
I am currently reading "Life of PI" by Yann Martel. By watching the major motion first I really made a mistake because I know when everything is and what is going to happen! The literature is a bit difficult which makes a little harder to know what's going on but for now I am going to talk a bit about the character relationship going on between the two protagonists of the story.
Piscine or "PI" and Richard Parker the tiger. After PI is left on a lifeboat with this ferocious tiger you start to think. Is the tiger real? Does it represent the feelings of staying alive, and having a reason to go on, and keep the flame of hope burning. PI was also stuck with a couple other animals witch could have represented feelings. The zebra with a broken leg: the feeling of having not a lot to survive with. The sad monkey: the feeling of losing his parents and brother. The attacker hyena: the feeling of just abandoning hope and killing himself. I think that these highly represent PI's feelings.
In conclusion I think that all of these feelings really give the story some metaphoric effect and I really like how the author got you thinking about PI's feelings.

Non Fiction Blog Post
http://www.nytimes.com/1989/08/02/business/cosmetics-companies-quietly-ending-animal-tests.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm
Animal testing. In my opinion one of the cruelest ways to help the american nation. Sure, testing animals gives us research, helps us learn about products but the way they find this information out isn't ethical. Hurting animals who are helpless and innocent is not the way to help out society. Injeccting them with chemicals and rubbing products into their eyes and nose is awful. Imagine is that was you.
In this article I think the author wants us to raise awareness about animal testing and how it is stopping throughout some of the brand name cosmetics like "Cover Girl" and "Avon." But in the past they would rub chemicals into their fur, shave their fur, rub chemicals into their eyes and inject them with all sorts of gross products.
I think the author wants us to feel relieved that animal testing is lightening up around the world and that lots of animal rights groups are standing up for them.
In conclusion this article really made me feel assured that animal testing is getting better and that I know people all over the world have the same thoughts and feeling about this topic just like me!

"So Inn Love"
So I told you I would write one final blog post about this extremely stereotypical book "So Inn Love" by Catherine Clark, which I regret reading and think was a complete waste of my time. So instead of praising how great this book was I will name several ways the author could have made it much better. Fortunately I won't have to go through this trauma of reading a dense, and slow book.
One way I think the author could have made this book a lot better was if the main character had more of an actual personality. It seemed like the author couldn't decide what kind of impression the girl made on other people. By the end I felt like I didn't know the character well at all. For a book to be good, usually there are ways to relate to a character's actions or emotions. However, in this book, the girl (Elizabeth) didn't seem real at all--instead, I felt like I was watching a TV show with awful actors. She wasn't believable.
Adding on to that I felt like I was watching an awful TV show, Elizabeth the protagonist was constantly being "checked out" by the boy she liked. For example during the scene where they had the same job as a lifeguard on the beach when she went to go get some supplies from the shed she noticed him putting on his binoculars and looking at her in her bikini. Oh God, can it get anymore like a bad sitcom? I wonder why this author chose this to be the main focus of the book. I think she could've instead made a slightly more entertaining conflict and add the boy drama as a smaller conflict.
Overall I definitely wasn't too impressed but the book did teach me many girls in the world would actually read and enjoy the book; otherwise, it wouldn't be published. I guess I'll steer away from the author in the future.

"So Inn Love"
I am currently reading "So inn love" by Catherine Clark. Even though I just started it, it has already proven to be in one word stereotypical. There are the "populars," the "loosers," the "jocks", and more and since she is just a newbie she is one of the "loosers" just like all of the other teenage dramas but my question is: What am I holding back on or what does my mind not want me to read? This book in my opinion will probably have a fairy tale ending and will have some extreme romantic action going on. Hopefully my opinion will not be correct and it will prove to be something more.
It takes place with a young girl named Liza just graduating high school and has scored a job at the inn where all of the cool kids hang out. Her request is to "get through this without being heartbroken" and my mind has already blocked some things out. Stupid talk about boys and more. What else do we seriously want to hear. My mind has already held back the parts of the book where she gets into fights, spills a drink on her new shirt, and has a hopeless crush who is the most popular boy around. Yeah, that kind of stuff. There are also the good parts of the book where I can actually see that that the author tried to make an effort not to make it all stupid and stereotypical. One part is where she and her new friend are talking about what they are going to do that summer and for a little while I can actually see where the story is going. My mind almost doesn't want to read the stereotypical stuff and just skips over and I move to a new page.
In conclusion hopefully this book will end up being good so I don't have to waste so much time reading it. I am holding back on everything that is stereotypical.

"11 Birthdays"
I am currently reading the book "11 Birthdays" by Wendy Mass. This book is already showing interesting aspects of possible supernatural powers and maybe even prophecies! This book is really fun and captivating and always leaves me wanting more. Some character relationships are stronger then others though. Mothers to daughters, sister to sister, and father to daughter. All of these relationships make the book even stronger and allow you to zoom in on the really interesting parts.
I think that the relationship between the protagonist Amanda and her sister Kylie have a bipolar relationship there are some times in the book where they will constantly fight and just not talk, and then there are other times in the book where they will complement each other and talk. I think that having a rocky relationship between them makes the book more real and not like a fairy tale. I also think that having a older and prettier sister makes the book a little stereotypical. I mean aren't a lot of books about younger sisters and their older prettier sisters that can sometimes be mean to them? Overall I would like to keep focusing in on this relationship.
In conclusion even though I have just started the book it is already really good with lots of different plot twists and I would like to keep thinking about the relationship between older and younger sisters.

"I was a Teenage Fairy"
Right now I am currently reading the book "I was a teenage fairy" by Francessca Lia Block. This book even though I have just started reading it has already got me very engaged in the setting and surrounding. The book so far has taken place in suburbia Beverly Hills and is about a girl whose name is Barbie and may look like one too buts thats not how she feels on the inside. Her mother forces and pushes her around like she's plastic and that is not how she wants to be known. Her mother, it feels, just cares about her model career and not the way she really feels.
To me it seems like Barbie does not have a strong relationship to or mom, or her dad. Her mother only cares about her modeling career and her father doesn't care about anything but her work. Her mother forces her to go take head shots for her portfolio and go to fancy schools and all Barbie wants is to be like every other kid. Normal. In the book while the agent is fussing over how she looks Barbies eyes immediately go to the plant sitting in the corner. She wants nothing to do with them and everything to do with the plant. She studies it and notices every crevice instead of applying make up and hair spray. I think Barbies life would be a lot easier if her mother would just be a little on Barbies side and just follow along.
Then there is another whole side from the story. Aside from the whole model career there is Mab. Mab is a fairy. Yes, I said it a fairy. When Barbie hear something from the back yard she went to check an it ended up being a fairy. In the book it states that she doesn't know if Mab is real. She seems pretty real to me. I think Mab symbolizes the one side of her that is obsessed with beauty but then again I could be wrong. I just started the book. Mab loves herself, she is constantly calling herself beautiful and from the way the author describes her she might be on the outside but on the inside she seems like a snob. I look forward to learning more about this relationship.
In conclusion, I can't wait to learn more about this fairy and more relationships between fairies and her family and modeling career.

The final blog post for "The Lovely Bones"
For the final blog post on "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold Susie faces her self in a strange but sweet situation and ending. I very much enjoyed reading this book and I think I can add it to my list of favorites. The language is very detailed and tough but that's what gives the book a little more liveliness and edge.
The part of the book which was veering towards the end really made me emotional. Susies friend named Ruth on earth faces a near death experience and soars up towards heaven, but on the other hand as Susie watches her, she gets a little to close and falls and tumbles down into Ruthes body. I think this is a very interesting choice the author made because Susies boyfriend just so happens to be having lunch with Ruth. Her boyfriend immediately notices a change then discovers it's Susie. I was very happy at this point because throughout the book Susie longs to be with her boyfriend and when she finally gets the chance it was very moving for the two of them.
Can you imagine somebody from the dead going into another persons body. This part in the book was definitely a highlight for me. All throughout the book: When will they meet? Will they meet? How will they meet? These questions were answered at this point.
In conclusion, I enjoyed this book a lot and hopefully others will agree with me about the flaws and highlights

"The Lovely Bones" #3
I am currently reading "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. Don't judge, I am a slow reader! Right now in the book everybody is making decisions. Some of the decisions may be bad and some of the decisions may be good. But the main theme is the growing and shrinking love inside the family with or without their daughter and how it endures and changes over time.
One of the main issues of the book right now is how each member of the family is slowly drifting apart and resorting to having affairs. The mother is resorting to having adultery with a family friend. And how the father is slowly losing himself in depression. Lindsay, Susie's sister is growing farther and farther apart with her boyfriend and resorting to alcohol and growing up. The whole entire family is gravitating away from each other and Susie. Just like I predicted after long periods of time death is in the path and there is just nothing you can do about it.
In conclusion, I have got to say that I look forward to anyting happy in the book because at the point the family is molding into depression. More to come!

The Lovely Bones #2
I am currently reading the "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold
I love this book. The details are so vivid and really show me and take me into the world of this book and really gives me different perspectives of the seventies. I know all the characters so well. The author has a clear focus on all characters and really shows me their characteristics.
In "The Lovely Bones" the author really makes every sentence affecting and really makes me think about life for this young deceased girl. The plot is completely accomplished and their are no loopholes what so ever. She begins the story with a girl named Susie Salmon adjusting to her new life and heaven. Heaven although is not the place she expected. She watches life on earth go on without her. Her family is slowly unraveling, her friends are leaving her behind and we are learning more and more about her killer trying to find himself as we discover who is and his past. I think all of these are signs that Susie was a great impact on everyone around her.
Fro the start of the book to where I am now, Susie's younger sister Lindsay is changing. Changing from a little kid to a teen who wears makeup and has a boyfriend. As Susie watches her younger sister get older for heaven Susie realizes that she will never get to do the things that her younger sister is doing. Growing up. I think that Susie discovers heaven is not all clouds and butterflies but watching your loved ones lives go by.
In conclusion I think that so far the book has a lot of cool and interesting plot twists and I would like to read more!
